dacoity at mother’s house

March 28, 2006

Yesterday, March 27, early morning, three dacoits with pistols and TT entered my mother’s house, beat up my brother and the servant, locked everyone in a room threw everything on the floor to see what valuables there were, and made away with everything that could fetch a price.

When throwing books, they also threw the Quran on the floor. My 90 yaer old mother couldn’t stand it and protested: “You are Muslim, and you are throwing the Quran?” Back came the answer: “So what! we are Kafir!”

They were Pathans, between 20-25 years of age, most certainly from Muslim backgrounds.

Mother, 90 years old, the shock, the trauma!

18 Benefits of Prayer

March 24, 2006

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah [d.751]

In the Name of Allaah, the Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

In his excellent book, Zaad al-Ma’aad, in the section which includes the book, At-Tibb an-Nabawee, Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have Mercy on him) stated in his alphabetized discussion of medicines and nutrition:

– Prayer –

Allaah the Exalted has said:( And seek help in patience and in prayer. Surely that is something quite difficult on (people) other than people of humility and submissiveness ) [2]

And He has said:( O you who believe! Seek help in patience and in prayer! Verily, Allaah is with those who are patient. ) [3]

And He, the Exalted One, has said:(And command your family to pray, and be patient upon that. We are not asking you for any provisions, (rather) We provide for you, and the favorable outcome is for (those with) taqwaa (consciousness of Allaah that produces righteous actions). ) [4]

And in the Books of Sunnah it is reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) used to hasten to prayer whenever an affair disturbed him. And previously discussed was the concept of healing most ailments through prayer before seeking out other ways of dealing with them.-

1 – Prayer is something that causes one to receive sustenance.-

2 – It is something that safeguards one’s physical health.-

3 – It keeps away harmful things.-

4 – It casts away illnesses.-

5 – It strengthens the heart.-

6 – It brightens one’s countenance.-

7 – It delights the soul.-

8 – It gets rid of laziness.-

9 – It makes the limbs active.-

10 – It increases one’s physical strength.-

11 – It expands the chest (making one at ease and giving him insight).-

12 – It is nourishment for the soul.-

13 – It illuminates the heart.-

14 – It safeguards one’s blessings.-

15 – It repels catastrophes.-

16 – It brings on blessings.-

17 – It keeps away the Shaytaan (the Devil).-

18 – It draws one close to Ar-Rahmaan (Allaah, the Most Merciful).

And overall it has an amazing effect on the health of the body and heart, and in strengthening them and expelling harmful pollutants from them. No two people have been afflicted with any disability, disease, or other calamity, except that the portion of the one who prays is less and his outcome is cleaner.

Also, prayer has an amazing effect on the evils of the dunyaa (the worldly life) and how it repels them, especially when the prayer is performed properly and completely, inwardly and outwardly. Nothing keeps the evils of the dunyaa at bay and brings on the benefits of it like prayer.

The reason behind this is that prayer is one’s connection to Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic. So based on the strength of a person’s relationship with his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, the doors of goodness will accordingly be opened up for him, bad things and the reasons for them befalling him will be cut off, and the elements of success granted by His Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, will begin pouring in, along with safety and good health, wealth and worldly riches, relaxation, bliss, enjoyment, and all types of joyful affairs will be brought to him, and in an expedient manner, too. Quran & Science

March 19, 2006

Science and Islam’s close relationship with it played a tremendous role in strengthening my faith and that of scientists throughout history – even today! This is a fascinating section – do take time to explore it!

“There is indeed no human work prior to modern times that contains statements which were equally in advance of the state of knowledge at the time they appeared and which might be compared to the Quran. It comes as no surprise to learn that Religion and Science have always been considered to be twin sisters by Islam and that today, at a time when science has taken such great strides, they still continue to be associated, and furthermore certain scientific data are used for the better understanding of the Quranic text.

“What is more, in a century where, for many, scientific truth has dealt a deathblow to religious belief, it is precisely the discoveries of science that, in an objective examination of the Islamic Revelation, have highlighted the supernatural character of certain aspects of the Revelation.

“The Quran contains infinitely more precise details [than many scientific discoveries today] which are directly related to facts discovered by modern science: these are what exercise a magnetic attraction for today’s scientists.

“It is not faith in Islam that first guided my steps, but simple research for the truth. [What led me to this conviction was the fact that it would be unthinkable] for a man of Muhammad’s time to have been the author of such statements on account of the state of knowledge in his days.” ~ Dr. Maurice Bucaille, an eminent medical scientist and a member of the French Academy of Medicine. He is the author of the book entitled “The Bible, The Quran and Science.”

The scientific Evidence of the Qur’an 1 Re: The Quran: revealed? inspired? written? Name: Abdullah_Al_Hashimi 17/3/2006(18:5) GMT Reply

The Creator has revealed in the Qur’an facts about the creation, wich could NOT have been known 1400 years ago when the Qur’an was revealed!

Examples:

1- Big Bang

“Do not the Unbelievers see
That the heavens and the earth
Were joined together (as one
Unit of creation), before
We clove them asunder?”

(Qur’an, 21:30)

2- The expanding universe:

“With the power and skill
Did We construct
The Heaven:
And indeed, We
Are (its) expander”

(51:47)

3- Description of the sequence of embryonic stages:

“And We placed him (i.e. man) as a sperm-drop
In a firm lodging (i.e. the womb)
Then We made the sperm-drop
Into a clinging clot, and We made
The clot into a lump (of flesh),
And We made (from) the lump, bones,
And We clothed the bones with flesh;
Then We developed him into
Another creation. So blessed is
God, the Best of creators.”

(23:13,14)

In the preface of the book “The developing human“, by Dr. Keith Moore, of Canada, it is mentioned that the description of the Qur’an of the embryonic stages is astonishingly accurate!

4- The sun will eventually consume itself totally:

“And the sun
Runs its course
For a period determined
For it; that is
The decree of (Him)
The Exalted in Might,
The All-Knowing”

(Qur’an 36:38)

The same message is also found in 13:2, 35:13, 39:5 and 39:21.

5- The Orbiting and revolving of the sun:

“It is He Who created
The night and the day,
And the sun and the moon:
All (the celestial bodies)
Swimming, each in its
Rounded course”

(Qur’an, 21:33)

Also

“It is not permitted
To the Sun to catch up
The moon, nor can
The night outstrip the day:
Each (just) swims along
In (its own) orbit
(According to Law)”

(Qur’an 36:40)

6- Mountains have underground roots, which make them look like a peg (or stake):

“Have We not made
The earth a resting place?
And the mountains as stakes?”

(78:6,7)

Also

“And the mountains
He firmly fixed”

(79:32)

The Scientific Evidence of the Qur’an 2 Re: The scientific Evidence of the Qur’an 1 Name: Abdullah_Al_Hashimi 17/3/2006(18:6) GMT Reply

7- Barrier between river and sea water after they mix at the end of the river:

“And it is He who has released
(Simultaneously) the two bodies
Of water, one fresh and palatable
And one salty and bitter, and
He placed between them a barrier
And prohibiting partition.”

(25:53)

8- Darkness in the depths of oceans, which would be fatal to reach without pressure adjusting equipment + the fact that there are deep waves going in different direction from the surface waves:

“Or (the Unbelievers’ state)
Is like the depths of darkness
In a vast deep sea which
Is covered by waves, upon which
Are waves, over which are clouds:
Depths of darkness, one
Above another. When one puts
Out his hand (therein), he
Can hardly see it.
And he for whom God has not
Granted light – for him there
Is no light.”

(24:40)

9- Every living thing is made of water (the basic substance of a living cell is made up of 80% water):

“…….
And We made from water
Every living thing
….”

(21:30)

Also

“And God has created
Every animal from water”

(24:45)

10- Fruits have male and female organs:

“And fruit
Of every kind He made
Two mates”

(13:3)

Also

“Exalted is He who created all
Pairs all things that the earth
Grows, as well as
Their own (human) kind
And (other) things of which
They have no knowledge”

(36:36)

11- Production of milk:

“And verily in cattle there is
A lesson for you.
We give you to drink
Of what is inside their bodies,
Coming from a conjunction
Between the contents of the
Intestine and the blood,
A milk pure and pleasant for
Those who drink it”

(16:66)

12- Pain receptors present in skin:

“Indeed, those who disbelieve in Our
verses, We will caste them into a
Fire. Every time their skins are
Roasted through, We will replace
Them with other skins so they may
Taste the punishment. Indeed, God
Is ever Exalted in Might and Wise”

(4:56)

You know that with a third degree burn, pain is not felt anymore!

When Prof. Tagatat Tejasen, Chairman of the Department of Anatomy at Chiang Mai University in Thailand, read this verse, he could not believe that the Qur’an mentioned this scientific fact 1400 years ago!

And as a sincere and objective scientist, he declared his acceptance of the Qur’an as the book sent by the Creator of man and he entered Islam.

Salam (=Peace)
